Greetings. Picked up the Caracal F yesterday. I will be shooting it later today for the first time. I am a long time Steyr owner and so not brand new to the Bubbits' designs. Rather than tell you nothing about myself, here is a Steyr experience: Seven years ago I picked up an S9 (for the girl I was with at the time and another) for myself. Both had to go back for warranty repair due to light primer strikes. While out in the mail hurricane Katrina showed up and the service center was in Louisiana at the time. Some months later I received the S9's back. I may have the repair sheets somewhere and i assumed they were fine. I split with my girl so I was down to one S9 and decided to buy the full size M9. I purchased this used but it appeared barely used. It had the same issue and so went back for repair again. At this point Steyr had started up a new importer as Steyr USA (and not the pawn shop that had been doing it). I replaced the op-rod with a metal after-market one and a grip-plug to keep lint out of the grip (which was a problem when I winter carried). Both the Steyr metal op-rod and grip plug for the M series came from the same place. If you are interested PM me - they may still e making them. The light-primer strikes of the M9 had been resolved but I hadn't given the S9 much attention since it had been returned. I used it a bit. Long story short it went back to Steyr again. When it returned it was now a solid gun and I know the striker was replaced this time. However, I'd lost interest in compact and sub-compact firearms around this time and stopped using it. I purchased a M9-A1 when they came out. Subsequently the four people I spend the most time at the range with all included the M9-A1 to their arsenals and two of them laid their other handguns down to rest. Something I can't get myself to do. I missed out on the "affordable" S9-A1's until the new import about a year and a half ago. I sold my S9 to make the purchase. After using the M9-A1 and S9-A1 I decided to finally part with the M9 as it was no longer loved and I wanted to put the money towards an AUG. I still have little confidence in the original S9 guns. My ex even mentioned the light primer strike issue some years later. I know she has since sold the gun to a relative. This is significant because she was better with it than anything else she'd picked up and loved the system even more than myself. My experience with the M9-A1 and S9-A1 has been exceptional and they are the two handguns I regularly travel with. I use the 17rnd mags for the M9-A1 (now reduced in price, bummer for me, I paid top dollar). If you read this far, I make this offer: If you are considering purchasing a M9-A1, S9-A1, or Caracal F pistol I offer use of my handguns. Pay for your own ammunition and work a time out for when I can join you and we're golden.
