My Caracal C today fired after falling from my waist to a cement floor!
How is this possible? it appears that the firing pin safety malfunctioned.
be warned the gun may not be as safe as advertised!

Was the hammer back for a single action shot when this happened?

you reason for asking this is? is your thinking that I didn't put it back together properly? the gun has less than 300 rounds through it, it's been cleaned but not taken fully apart. what happened today I thought was impossible to happen.

    Caracal: striker fired.[/quote:1mw07but]

    I'm having one of those days . . . :?

When you are doing too many things while watching television and not paying enough attention this happens sometimes.

Stupid me. For some reason I was thinking of a Sig P230.

    Talk about a giant facepalm.

Just trying to eliminate variables, not make accusations. I'd give caracal-usa a call and see if they'll take a look at it.

fyi, the op has a thread running at steyr club as well, with some more info on the incident and from my understanding....contact with sai /caracal is already in process. now we wait for the results.

i've elected to retire my f from carry until i see the results from jeff at sai.....i'm likely over reacting, but, imho, no room for error when it comes to firearms. the old better safe than sorry.

hopefully the issue will be resolved and we can all go on enjoying our cats safely.

Did it land on the rear of the slide? It shouldn't matter but i'm just wondering if a direct hit on the striker would break the FPS.
